It happens with almost every home purchase – you buy a home warranty to cover the expenses of repairs to expensive equipment and appliances in your home. Many times, this is included by default with your purchase. Other times, a buyer might purchase this on their own. There are tons of companies out there with mixed reviews, and even the most informed consumer can get ripped off. It happened to me.

A smart thermostat does the thinking you don’t want to do. It can learn your schedule, turn itself down when nobody is home, and balance temperatures around your home to make you comfier while using less energy (talk about win-win).

Think back to the time before caller ID and recall the frustration of not knowing who was on the other end of the receiver before you answered. Well, that same issue carried on a few more decades for your front door until the SkyBell (www.SkyBell.com) team decided to fix that problem. Unfortunately, the first generation of the SkyBell didn't do it so well. The product had issue after issue -- from delayed shipments, to product features that weren't actually available, to just plain old functionality problems. It wasn't great.
